Kabul’s 85 Year-Old Chayniki That Still Warms Hearts

In the heart of Kabul, along Kah Foroshi alley, stands one of the city’s oldest Chayniki restaurants: Waheed’s Chayniki, with a proud history of over 85 years.

Waheed explains, “Chayniki is made from lamb meat, combined with onions, tomato, and garlic, all cooked together in a special pot called a ‘Chaynik’. The cooking process takes about five hours to reach its perfect flavor and aroma.”
