At the far end of Parwan Province, where it borders Kapisa and Panjshir, lies a narrow valley with breathtaking scenery that feels almost unreal. This is Gulbahar — a place where the roaring Panjshir River cuts through the heart of its mountains and meadows, creating stunning natural views.
According to local folklore, the area was once covered by water. When spring came, the waters evaporated and a flower bloomed. From then on, this beautiful land was named Gulbahar, meaning “spring flower.”
Gulbahar is blessed with a mild climate and has long been known as one of the most picturesque regions of Parwan. In the past, it was home to Afghanistan’s largest and only thread-producing textile factory, famously known as the “Gulbahar Textile.”
Another highlight of this region is its delicious local specialty — the Gulbahar cookie, a traditional treat that leaves a lasting taste and memory.
